The Polis Grand Hotel in Athens is a 5-minute walk from Omonoia Metro Station and 300 metres from the National Archaeological Museum. It features a rooftop bar with Acropolis and Lycabettus Hill views, a small fitness centre, and rooms with marble bathrooms, air conditioning, and free WiFi. A Greek buffet breakfast and Greek cuisine are served at the rooftop bar-restaurant and Polis Restaurant.

The stay was okay, but the coffee at breakfast is usually weak everywhere, so paying extra to use the professional machine would be sensible—maybe that could be included in the price; at the rooftop bar one staff member was constantly wearing a balaclava, while another named Giotta was always seen with a hat.

Noise from a neighboring room was a problem. Someone literally defecated on the street about 30 m from the hotel – that’s not the hotel’s fault and doesn’t affect my rating, but it does say something about Athens the city.

The water was hot and refreshing after a day of walking around. The clean quality didn’t hit four stars; it missed many checkpoints like furniture and space. It’s a “Greek” four‑star hotel. I could sip water on the balcony while it rained. The building next door looked abandoned and a bit overpriced, and my room was small.
