Edit Picton overlooks the Marlborough Sounds, near Waikawa Bay Marina and Picton's centre. The hotel features cosy accommodation, an on-site eatery and bar, and meeting spaces. Guests enjoy the outdoor pool, fine cuisine at the maritime-themed Chartroom Restaurant, and drinks at the Boatshed Bar with harbour views. The hotel is a short distance from the scenic TranzCoastal railway.

The room was huge and well‑heated, but getting to it was difficult: from the reception you had to go down a flight of stairs to the lift, walk through the whole hotel, and then climb a steep 15‑step staircase with heavy luggage; we also asked for a lunch pack and it didn't even contain a drink.

Fiona at reception was excellent and upgraded my room for a small fee so I could enjoy the marina views; I’ll be back.

The location offered stunning views and the receptionist was warm and welcoming, yet the room was very dirty in many spots, the common areas were rough and worn, staff used the lift and didn’t come out when we were waiting with heavy bags, breakfast was dull, cold, and the staff were not welcoming, the cleaning staff arrived at the same time as breakfast, and the whole place felt unwelcoming with piles of dust in many areas of our room.
