When booking, I had to enter my credit card but no charge was taken; I asked the hotel if prepayment could be arranged for my colleagues, and they said the card wouldn’t be charged now but would be automatically deducted on arrival, so no front‑desk payment would be needed. However, my colleagues arrived and had to pay themselves. The reception should be more careful with what they promise and assure, as this caused a lot of hassle later.

I stayed for a week, from Saturday to Saturday, in a two‑person room that also works great for a solo traveler. The staff were friendly and the reception and bar were open from morning until night. Breakfast was included, and I really enjoyed the breakfast lounge. There were minor cleaning issues, but for a 3‑star hotel it’s clearly good. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking, but you can park on the street within a 1‑km radius for €10 a day, which is a decent option. Viarengo is a beautiful city; the hotel is just a 2‑3 minute walk to the beach, the promenade is lovely, and there are boutiques and fancy restaurants nearby. Overall, I recommend it and hope to visit again.
