The Brig & Barrel hotel

The owners and staff were flawless, and breakfast was really good. The price we paid was exceptional. The room and bed were very comfortable. I’m reluctant to write this, but the steak pie wasn’t great—it seemed to be cooked first and then gravy added, leaving it dry and a bit tough, and the puff pastry top absorbed too much gravy. A proper pie should be fully enclosed in pastry; maybe I should have chosen the ones from the bar.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and super helpful! Our room was very comfortable and clean. It’s slightly dated, but you really couldn’t fault the comfort and cleanliness of the whole hotel.

The pub was friendly yet busy, but there was no noise in the room, and the food was also good. Everything else was fine; they only accepted cash for amounts under 10 pounds, which on your own is more than a pint. I worked around it by pre‑paying for the next drink and then getting cash later that day.

“Great spot in Buckie”

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and breakfast was great and located in the centre of town. We had an excellent dinner at the restaurant. The pub downstairs was great, and when we returned to our room it was so quiet you wouldn’t even know there was a pub below. I would definitely stay there again.

“Excellent quality food exceeds expectations.”

The breakfast was amazing and the evening meal was outstanding, with service that was swift and friendly; the room was clean and quiet, though I didn’t like the separate private bathroom, it didn’t lower my overall rating of the hotel.
