The old building in Ipoh feels unique, and it’s close to attractions, shops, and eateries. Luckily they accept card payments, which is great because many foreign tourists can’t use Malaysia’s QR payment system and are stuck with cash or card only.

“It was wonderful”

It’s near the city centre, but the sewage pipes make a loud water‑flowing noise at night.

I slept better here than anywhere else in Ipoh; even though it’s on a busy street, the hotel was peaceful and quiet, the security was solid, and the air‑con was cool enough for two scorching days. I’ll definitely return.

“110 years of history and warm hospitality”

It’s a historic spot where the owners proudly showcase its past, and the staff are polite, unobtrusive, friendly, and welcoming. Getting to Concubine Lane and the museums is easy, and there are plenty of food options nearby. The street that looked empty during the day turned noisy at night, with cars revving and fireworks for Chinese New Year, and at 8 am on Sunday the shop across the street blasted loud music; there’s nothing the hotel can do about that, so we were just unlucky.

“Adequate stay in a good area”

The building’s historic charm is interesting, and checking in and out was straightforward. However, there was no hot water in the room and it was very noisy at night.
