“Lovely accommodation in a beautiful and convenient location”
We stayed in the Rembrandt room, a well‑designed renovation on the third floor of an old building in De Pijp. It was comfortable and charming, with a spacious balcony as a bonus. Our hosts, Lisa and Ruud, were wonderfully friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, a 10‑minute walk from major museums, great eateries, the Albert Cuyp Market, and the metro. We felt we had an authentic experience of living in a central Amsterdam neighborhood, like a local. The only downside is that there is no lift and the room is on the third floor, up one of those winding staircases with tiny steps, which would be a challenge for anyone who needs to avoid stairs.
It was hard to choose what I liked most about the room; everything was new, clean, and organized—excellent! The hosts welcomed us warmly and were always helpful, even leaving some little treats for us. I found the location ideal for exploring the city without being in the middle of tourist traffic; the neighborhood has great dining options and is very close to the metro station. The only downside is the stairs, but I understand that’s common in Amsterdam.
“The location in this lovely neighborhood along the canal, makes this an ideal stay.”
We really appreciated the detail and care in the design of this beautifully refurbished space. The new bathroom was nicely appointed with a large rain shower. The bed was very comfortable. Having a balcony to sit and relax with a beer on a spring afternoon was a real treat. The stairs can be a bit daunting when you bring luggage up to the 4th floor, but that was only on the first day; after that we had no problem.
“The hosts were very helpful and friendly. We loved the location.”
The location is great, and you can easily walk to the market, stores, restaurants, and museums. No complaints.
“Authentisches wohnen in Amsterdam, aber leider zu teuer für was man bekommt.”
The room gives a truly historic feel, as if you’re living in old Amsterdam. The stairwell made it very difficult to move suitcases up and down; we’re both in our mid‑30s, but anyone over 60 would have no chance. The landlords were nice, even though we never met them in person, but the accommodation is very inflexible regarding check‑in and check‑out. You can’t leave your suitcase earlier or later, which made it feel more like an Airbnb. The room and location were nice, but the price‑value ratio is unfortunately not good at all.
