“Great home full of warmth”

I never expected to stumble upon a hidden gem right by the beach, but this place delivers exactly that. The tiny garden and serene vibe make it a perfect spot to relax, and the homemade dessert they served at check‑in was a delightful welcome. Huge thanks to Yusuf for quickly arranging another shuttle when my return transfer got cancelled; without his help I probably wouldn’t have made it back to Guatemala City the next day. Emi and Nico are hilarious, approachable, and exude a laid‑back energy that makes everyone feel at home. This isn’t just a hostel—it’s a warm, genuinely wonderful community. I can’t recommend it enough.

“Would stay again :)”

Casa Austera was a super chilled and laid‑back hostel, the volunteers were lovely, and it was a perfect place for me since I wasn’t looking for a party but just a bit of peace and tranquility, and next to the mangroves! As it is next to the Mangroves, it is particularly laden with mosquitoes, something to take into account, but with spray and the mosquito nets over the beds it was fine!

Great kitchen, chill facilities and wonderful staff. Visited during semana santa so there were a lot of crazy loud parties in el padrón—not my vibe. The hostel was like a refuge near the mangroves. short walk to the beach
