“Great value on the sunset side of Gili Air”

The room offered plenty of space, the bed was large, the AC was cool, and the shower provided hot water. The restaurant served tasty local dishes at lower than usual prices, and breakfast was also nice. Towels were clean and smelled good, and it’s an amazing spot to watch the sunset. The nearby beach club played loud music in the middle of the night, and the beach’s low tide meant no water fun until late afternoon. The bed felt a little hard for me, but that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying this place.

The location was great, and the cat was a nice touch. But where do I even start: the people running the place were incredibly unpleasant. My partner and I stayed over the weekend and felt completely uncomfortable. It was the worst accommodation we've ever been to—filthy and infested with cockroaches. We were shocked when, the next morning, a cockroach crawled over our heads onto the bed.

The stay was authentic and right on the beach, and the host family was lovely. The restaurant served tasty food—our kids couldn't get enough spaghetti bolognaise—and we could use the beach loungers for free. It was a pity that Gili Air hosts many beach parties in the evenings and the neighboring area sometimes has very loud music.
