We spent two nights with the Fujiwara family; nothing else to say but it was great! We’d love to return to the area just to see them again. Nothing to report.

The guest house offered great hospitality, sits in a quiet spot, and is convenient for exploring Lake Biwa and its surroundings. Thank you so much!

I was drawn in by the glowing reviews on Booking, so I booked, and the place turned out even better than we imagined. Every detail shows the host’s care: the gear is brand‑new and spotlessly maintained. When we arrived at night, the host greeted us warmly, giving us that cozy, grandma‑home vibe. We even caught a sky full of stars, and we’re already planning to stay longer next time because one night just wasn’t enough. Finding this hidden gem is one of the best memories of the trip.

The spot is a bit off the beaten path, which was exactly what we needed after a week in Tokyo. We were surrounded by rice paddies and close to Lake Biwa, and the natural scenery was stunning—perfect for unwinding before the next leg of our trip. The house matched the expectations of a traditional Japanese home, and the hosts were very welcoming. Language barriers didn’t matter thanks to Google Translate. The kids loved sleeping on the futons and playing retro games, and we had a cozy room upstairs, though the hosts were always ready to help if we had questions. We loved everything—from the house to the surroundings, to the hot bath ready for us—and we’d return in a heartbeat if we could.

After a month in Japan, this guesthouse became our top choice. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, and the hosts are welcoming and kind, even helping us rent bikes and escorting us to the train station at the end of our stay. Their small gestures made us feel like we were at our grandparents’ house, and everything was immaculate. It’s a wonderful way to experience the Japanese countryside, and nothing was lacking.
