“The host was friendly and helpful. Property more suited to rent as a whole rather than by the room.”

It was a brand new property that was still unfinished. The bed was comfortable and the location was quiet. (This review isn’t for Exning Road, as I was moved to a house in 6 Mile Bottom, but I suspect this property was better than the one I booked.) The room wasn’t an ensuite as booked and had no lock on the shower door. The shower was a wet room and there was nowhere to get dressed when dry; you had to walk through communal areas to return to the room. An annoying beep sounded every 30 seconds (probably a smoke alarm or similar). The rooms weren’t soundproof as advertised, and there was no TV. The room I stayed in was on the ground floor facing the drive, with windows that weren’t fully covered and offered little privacy. The room wasn’t clean, had stains on the tiles, and there were dirty old socks left in the corner. It was overpriced for what it was.

“Poxy.”

The double bed was comfortable and clean. The single bed quilt had hairs all over it. The fire alarm was hanging from the ceiling, and there were cobwebs around the light fixture. The windowsills were dirty, with dead spiders and flies. The bathroom cupboard had broken pieces of dried bread, and there were hairs in the shower and a mucky plughole. There was no remote control for the TV, and the alarm was beeping all night on the staircase. I never showered because it didn’t look clean enough to use, and I ended up living out of my suitcase in my car. I went to a Premier Inn after day one (too expensive), so I stuck it out. I left at first light on Sunday morning and will never stay here again. I only saw the host once, when I booked, so I couldn’t question anything. Finally home and a bath.

Nothing special. I was disappointed the place didn’t match the photos, was untidy, smelled dirty, and seemed to be inhabited by people—definitely not a nice place, wouldn’t recommend.
