The view is unbeatable and priceless, and they provide enough blankets for a good night, but you have to be ready for the bathroom situation. You need to walk a bit, and there are always military personnel in the area, so they’re always there when you head to the bathroom. I saw on social media that they offer firewood, but it’s not included—it's an extra 20 000. Also, they say breakfast is included, but calling a ham, cheese, and coffee sandwich “breakfast” feels off; I’d call it a “morning snack” instead.

“Decent but adjust your expectations”

Staying at Refugio Nidos del Cóndor Cocora felt mixed: the location is truly excellent, set in a gorgeous area with easy access to the Cocora Valley, making it a great base for exploring and you’ll wake up to the best view around. That’s the main plus for me. However, the facilities left a lot to be desired. The bathrooms were in very poor condition, dirty, never cleaned, hard to access, and not comfortable even for adventurous travellers. The lack of warm water was a major issue, especially in the cold weather. There are no proper walkable paths on the property, so when it rains, moving around becomes tough and muddy—expect your shoes to get soaked. Overall, while the setting is a big plus, the lack of basic comfort and maintenance brings the experience down. With significant improvements to the facilities, this place could live up to its potential. It feels overpriced for what it offers, and I would hesitate to return.

Now that it has electricity and a light bulb, it feels a lot more pleasant.
