The staff were absolutely brilliant and went out of their way to help us.
The garden was stunning, with zebras and springboks roaming around - it was like being in a wildlife reserve.
The location of this lodge was fantastic - it was right in the heart of the action.
This place has stolen my heart, and I'm already planning my next visit.

The Standard Chalet offers garden views and a fully equipped kitchenette with a stovetop, refrigerator, oven and microwave. It sleeps two on one bed, includes a desk, seating area, tea and coffee maker and air‑conditioning, and provides a private bathroom with a shower and free toiletries. A barbecue is also available for use within the chalet.
The lodge was fantastic—clean, tidy, and the outdoor showers were a highlight. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Unfortunately, the pool was still under repair, so swimming was off the table, and there was no water for the animals, which was heartbreaking. The lodge could use a bit of TLC, and the entrance isn’t staffed; you always have to ring reception to enter or leave.
“Tolle Unterkunft -Park nicht überzeugend”
We stayed in a nice, cozy bungalow where giraffes and a few impalas dropped by, and the breakfast and dinner served at the Tree‑Lodge were excellent, though only soft drinks and water were provided on site—you have to bring your own beer and wine after buying them elsewhere. The cabin has a fridge, and you can book local tours, but there wasn’t much to see; the night walk wasn’t worth it while the sunset tour was great, and the nearby cat‑protecting station is definitely worth a visit. The Big 5 tour started about half an hour late because some guests overslept, which was frustrating since it was already bright in the park, and the whole tour was disappointing—few animals and a very long drive, so it’s not worthwhile if you’re coming from Kruger. The kitchen for self‑cooking is very sparsely equipped.
This place is perfect for visiting Hluhluwe, and the food prepared by Chef Kok every night is amazing!
“Fantastic stay, rooms were very clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast was included in our price.”
The stay was excellent; our unit was spotless and very comfortable. The walk with De Wet was fascinating, and he was very knowledgeable and eager to share his insights.
We stayed in the lodge with our family and it was cozy. The sunset drive through the reserve was great, our driver explained a lot and we enjoyed the sunset with snacks and drinks. Dinner was beautifully presented. The only downside was the lack of heating.
