Breakfast was very good. The valet service worked excellently. The small birthday cake for my partner (offered by the hotel) with a card was appreciated in the room upon arrival. I wanted a bottle of champagne and a small cake as a birthday surprise in the room when I arrived, but I had to pay for the champagne in advance rather than during my stay, which felt odd. In a five‑star hotel we would expect fresh orange juice without extra charge, especially since the room rates were in the upper segment (a standard room at CHF 1'000.– per night). This may have been partly due to the conference happening at that time. The wait times to enter the restaurant for breakfast and dinner were fairly long.

The place sits in a great spot and the design is superb, but the food and drinks feel overpriced for Iceland’s premium standard; the meals are only good, nothing exceptional. The spa has potential, yet for such a remote location it should be more luxurious and offer more options overall. The two‑person sauna feels too small for a hotel of this size.

The lobby is beautiful and the staff are great, but the room was too warm and the heating couldn’t be lowered. The spa opened very late, which was inconvenient.

The spot is perfect for catching a cruise, but the dining and bar spots are pricey and the rooms feel a touch cramped for what they cost.
