“Quiet, rural escape close to Ballarat, good for exploring the region.”
The remote location suited my plans, but it’s only reachable by car, I think. Beautifully quiet, rural setting, birdsong in the morning. Shared bathroom but clean and good water pressure. Shared living rooms, and full use of the kitchen, including items in the pantry/fridge. Good continental breakfast, with fresh coffee. Easy parking. Comfy, very warm bed. Very amenable live‑in host/manager. Good WiFi. Good, fenced outside seating area. Enfield forest walks 2 minutes away. Hard to find without GPS mapping. A few strange little quirks, like the request to please don’t lie on top of the duvet/doona (to avoid flattening filling) but in a small‑ish room with one chair, where else do you sit? Also a container by the free tea/coffee asking for “dollars for alcohol drinks” – there are none in the fridge so was this a sort of corkage for BYO? I didn’t ask but it confused me.
