Westport Station Motel

“Watch how they try to get you to pay!”

Great location within walking distance to the restaurants in Westport. Upon check‑in, the clerk told us that American cards didn’t work at the hotel. My Visa was denied twice through the credit‑card reader. He tried to have us pay in Canadian currency, and when we said we didn’t have any, he manually entered the card and it worked fine. The difference between U.S. and Canadian was $45.00. Basically he was trying to swindle us into paying the higher exchange rate. No telling how many people they get by doing this.

“Quiet and comfortable room, but smell of cigarette smoke ruined the stay”

The bed was clean and comfortable, the fridge was on and worked great, heating worked well, and the TV was easy to use with good channels. The area was quiet and other guests were quiet that night, so the sleep itself was good. The room smelled badly of cigarette smoke and the cleaners tried to cover it up. There was a big gap at the bottom of the front door I had to stuff a towel into to keep mosquitoes out. Overall cleanliness could have been better—some hairs in the shower, dead bugs and cobwebs in the corners, the usual stuff; nothing outrageous, but it should have been better. I’ve stayed at this motel a few times before, a couple of years ago, and either the whole place has been neglected in that time, or I got a bad room.

The Breakfast at Forno was excellent -loved the homemade breads!!

The room was spotless and cozy, with a fridge, microwave, and plenty of dishes, cutlery, and mugs ready for use.

The sheets had a strong fabric‑softener scent, which was a bit off-putting.
