The room’s facilities were fairly basic. There were no storage options in the bathroom, but it was very clean and the price/value ratio was completely fine. When we arrived, Hendrik immediately offered us tours for the next four days. Three of those cost 100 € per person, and one was 75 € per person. Since we didn’t know the usual prices in Rantepao right after arrival, we agreed to the first tour for the next morning. He wanted the money from us that evening. Our senior guide Jaquin was excellent; we especially want to praise him. The tour was also interesting. But, as we later discovered, Hendrik’s prices were absolutely overpriced, which really upset us. All other tourists paid at most half that amount, even with licensed guides.

“Super Preis-Leistung, sauber und gemütlich”

The room was clean and cozy. We liked the location (a bit outside) and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. With a scooter you can get from A to B easily. It’s a pity there’s no water dispenser or filtration system. Our bed was pretty soft and saggy.

“Gemütliche Unterkunft fernab der Innenstadt mit tollem Guide”

We had a great time at Hendrik’s place and even extended our stay by two nights, even though we originally booked only two. Breakfast and dinner were simple but delicious, and we felt very comfortable in the cozy room. Hendrik is probably one of the best guides in Toraja, as he’s from the area, loves the culture, and happily answers all questions. Definitely take a tour with him if you’re in the region! The city center of Rantepao is about a 30‑minute walk away, but you can easily rent a scooter from Hendrik. The crow‑calling roosters, barking dog, and mosque wake you up early in the morning. The property does provide extra earplugs, but the thin walls still make it very loud. You should be prepared for that, though it’s probably not much different in all of Rantepao.

“Great value comfortable budget stay”

Great value stay, comfortable room and a great pressure hot shower was an added bonus! You’ll need a scooter or driver to get around, both of which are available. Don’t expect a Hilton‑level reception, but it meets almost all the criteria for a budget stay on Rentapao. No complaints about the price. A kettle, even a communal one, would have been a nice addition.
