The location was the only decent thing about the riad: central yet relatively quiet. Unfortunately, my stay did not match the platform description at all and deviated greatly from what guests should expect. Even though my arrival time was known well in advance, no one was there when I arrived. There was no prior contact or information. I tried calling and texting the number on file multiple times, but no one answered. I had to wait over two hours before the riad was unlocked. Only with help from a local was I taken to another riad where I could finally contact the host. I was then told the room key was left on the outer door of the riad—there was even a second key freely accessible. Given that Marrakesh is a big city, I find that practice extremely unsafe. Upon entering my room, I saw obvious mold on the walls and ceiling. The host later confirmed that this problem was already known. I find it very concerning that a room with known mold is still rented out to guests, especially due to potential health risks. Additionally, there was no hot water in the bathroom. When I asked, I was told a technician would be contacted first, who later fixed the issue. Moreover, the room did not have its own toilet, which, to my understanding, does not match the description and expectations of the listing. Later that evening, after walking several kilometers to a pharmacy and returning late to the riad, an employee asked who I was. This reinforced the impression of poor organization and lack of oversight of guests.
