My first visit with my sister was fantastic. We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and the surrounding forest and field paths offered lovely walks, even geocaching opportunities. I booked again for a family summer holiday. The only drawback was no mobile signal in the house, but Wi‑Fi was available, which made it easy to enjoy the peace.

I’m back for my second stay at Menkenhof, and the welcome was again warm and friendly. The quiet setting by the forest and the nearby trails, plus the horses from the riding stable that let us explore the woods, were especially enjoyable. We spotted many deer and rabbits, and the house itself was spotless, complete with a table and chairs for outdoor dining. The staff were very courteous, the property well maintained, and the kids had a sandbox and swings. The farm dog greeted us every morning with a friendly “Good morning.” A five‑minute drive to town gives easy access to shops, restaurants, and a stroll. We felt right at home and plan to return next year. The only downside was the lack of a phone reception inside the house, though we had Wi‑Fi that occasionally dropped; a Wi‑Fi booster might help. For a call, we could step outside the door or take a few steps into the woods.
