I spent four nights at Antica Golena, a working farm close to Parma and Bologna. The room was effectively a suite with a bedroom and a separate living room, and every listed amenity worked perfectly. Cristina left water bottles and coffee pods in the room, a thoughtful touch. The chickens roamed freely and all the animals were relaxed around visitors, which I always enjoy. If you’re driving through the hidden gems of the Emilia‑Romagna countryside, Antica Golena is a solid choice.

It felt heartfelt and simple, and I’ll go back again. The surroundings were rather primitive.
