The location and staff were excellent, and the activities they offer are very comprehensive; the coordination to get you to the campsite is highly appreciated. The interaction with Ismael stands out—his boat tour is highly recommended, as he is very attentive and fun; if you go to the campsite, definitely ask if a trip is available. The food, however, was a bit pricey.

The property sits in a pleasant spot where you can see nearby sites like the islands of Carabane and Elinkine. Ibrahim, the host, has poured his heart into the property and is eager to help in any way. The lunch was among the best I’ve had in Senegal, and for the price you pay for accommodation in a remote town, it’s good. I did experience a lack of water in my room in the evening that lasted until 10:30 am the next morning; I was told this was because it runs on solar and that can take some time to start up, which was a bit inconvenient. It’s best to fill up the bucket they give you during the day so you have water for the rest of the evening.

A great time at Ankel campsite. From the pirogue transport to our departure the next morning, the team was very attentive. Good vibe, good mood, very tasty food and a fire‑side evening with music. They also offer excursions to the village or other islands and will gladly accompany and guide you. For those who appreciate simplicity, kindness, and sharing, don’t hesitate to visit for a night or more. Here, it’s a simple campsite where human values make the luxury; you live to the rhythm of the tide and the sun, rest, and slow down.
