Der Hechl, a family‑run hotel in Tauplitz, sits between Salzkammergut and Ennstal beneath the Grimming Massif, surrounded by meadows and alpine pastures. Guests enjoy a heated outdoor pool, Finnish and bio saunas, steam bath, infrared cabin, two relaxation rooms, fitness area and tea bar. The à‑la‑carte restaurant serves Austrian cuisine; the Hechl hut lies 9 km away, open Thursday‑Sunday June‑October.

The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was good, and the box‑spring beds were super, but there was no elevator.

The central location was convenient, the staff were very friendly, and the place worked well for families with children.

Staff were super friendly, the spot with a view of Grimming is unbeatable, and the food was great. The only thing that bugged me was the ground‑floor room in the side building – next time I’d pick a higher room in the main block. Breakfast was solid, just wish they had fresh‑pressed juices instead of the vending‑machine ones.

Everything was just wow! Spotlessly clean, the place itself is magical, parking easy, food top‑notch, staff friendly. The wellness area was a nice bonus. We’re definitely coming back. No complaints.
