We’ve stayed at the Bay Hotel several times; it’s in a lovely spot right by the beach and the rooms stay consistently comfortable. The staff are friendly and the overall value is solid, and the café next door always serves a nice breakfast. The only downside this year was the live music downstairs that kept going late and got pretty loud; otherwise, it was still a pleasant stay.

The breakfast was the best I’ve had in a while—hot and tasty. The windows need replacement, though they’re not a problem in summer or autumn; winter heating costs are likely to be steep.

The room was a nice little space, clean, and came with good complimentary items. Breakfast at the diner next door was lovely, and for the price there were no complaints. There was a bit of noise from the bar, but that’s expected at a lively pub.

The bat area was spacious and clearly refurbished, clean, and the bar staff were friendly. The rooms were clean too. However, some general repairs were still outstanding, the blinds didn’t fully cover the windows and definitely needed replacement.

We had a fantastic long weekend at the Bay Hotel. The décor is calm and modern, and even though the pub downstairs is lively, our room stayed quiet and comfortable. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts were very good. The location is great for public transport, with buses to Eastbourne, Hastings, and Pevensey Castle and beyond. We enjoyed walking on the beautiful beach, the King Charles coastal path, and there are plenty of food options in the village. Two issues let the hotel down: the windows in our room didn’t open, perhaps a safety measure in this old building with large sash windows on the second floor, and the bathroom fan was broken, which seriously limited ventilation in a shared room. The bathroom also seemed due for a deep clean; I’d have liked a bit more bleach on the grout. Nothing made me uncomfortable, and my daughter was perfectly happy.
