“Good”

I only had to walk a short distance to town, and the room had a fan, heating, a comfy bed, a TV with Netflix, and a wardrobe. Check‑in was smooth, hot water was plentiful, and the shower was roomy. However, the lockbox wasn’t reset with a new code, so anyone could have accessed our key beforehand, but fortunately it was still secure. A pizza box was left in the room when we arrived, the towels were yellowed, and we could hear other guests talking and plugging things into walls. The TV was mounted oddly high on the wall, making it hard to see.

The floorboards in this room squeaked a lot, which isn’t something that can be fixed easily.

It’s a great spot for a quick stop in York, with a convenient location and a comfy bed plus a clean, small bathroom. The room was small, but that was expected and fine for a solo overnight stay. Mary and Jo handled communication well, and check‑in and check‑out were hassle‑free. Some bedroom walls and surfaces were slightly scuffed or dusty, and because the room was on the top floor, it got a bit noisy when other guests entered later at night.

“Breakaway”

The location is spot on, and I walked everywhere to soak up the history and sights. I’m an old‑school type who prefers face‑to‑face conversation over email, so the lack of a personal connection was a bit disappointing, but overall the trip was fantastic.
