The building is old, but the cleaning was spot‑on and the bath towels were in good condition, not worn out. I arrived late, yet the woman who appears to be the owner explained everything very kindly. The listing mentioned no air conditioning, but the room I got did have a proper AC unit. The shared toilet and washroom have a noticeable step, which caught me off guard.

The location is convenient for a road trip, and there’s a bakery right across the street that’s delicious. The photos on Booking can be misleading; I booked because the picture showed a room opening onto an outdoor forest, but the actual room is on the second floor with no elevator, making it tough for large luggage. It’s also quite small—three people spread out on tatami and bedding just fill the space. The linens and overall cleanliness are a bit below what I’d expect from a comparable hotel. When I woke early there was no hot water, and neither the bathroom nor the toilet had any.
