“現状の難点はだいたい自衛でフォローできる、いいお宿。また是非来たいと思います。”
I booked a single room in the annex. The old ryokan was beautifully renovated, striking a good balance between Japanese and Western styles. The entrance with a tatami mat and a small washroom lets you relax after removing your shoes, and the large bed is a plus. Compared with a regular business hotel, the room is spacious enough to fit a large suitcase. The staff were very kind and helped with check‑in timing (they mentioned there are times when the counter is empty, so watch out). There’s a breakfast‑rice shop open early nearby, all of which are tasty. There’s no convenience store between the station and the hotel, so it’s best to shop beforehand. On the opposite side of the station, a slightly farther location has a big mall that supplies most items.
The fridge with loud operating noise is right next to the bed, which was a bit annoying. I didn’t use the fridge, so it would help if the hotel allowed guests to unplug or switch it off like a business hotel. Footsteps from the upper floor and train sounds are also noticeable, but good earplugs would solve it (100‑yen store ones might be unreliable). The bathtub is very tiny, but it’s new and clean, so a quick shower or foot bath is fine. For some reason, only lace curtains are available, so if you’re light‑sensitive, bring an eye mask.
