The private camping site offered an excellent view of the river, and seeing elephants and hippos was magical; everything else was fine.

This campsite is perfectly placed inside a national park, right by the river and practically among the wildlife (you do have to pay the park entry fee), so you sleep “with” the animals; the noise is loud but worth experiencing, and the view from reception and the restaurant is breathtaking, with staff who take great care of you. On the downside, employees work long hours (typically 6 am to 9 pm) with very few days off—about one day every six or seven days, or a whole week only every five weeks—and many live far from family, which I found troubling as a white, affluent traveler relying on low‑cost labor.

The place is amazing. Beautiful. The parking lot is huge.

The tents and terrace were fantastic, and the food and service were top‑class. The spot inside Bwabwata National Park with a view of the river made for great game viewing.

The view from the bar and the setting right in nature are the highlights. At night you hear the animals, hippos and buffalo nearby, which is a wonderful experience.
