Breakfast was very good, the cook was nice, and the view of the bush savanna with the waterhole was great. The signage was poorly marked; we need signs on the main road. After heavy thunderstorms a Toyota Highlux or similar vehicle is essential—we got stuck with our Suzuki. Mosquito nets were missing, and we were “gnawed.”

The staff, location, and environment are good. The lodge is a bit rundown, and the road to it is sandy.

The view from this lodge is absolutely stunning, and even the rooms offer a top view of the park where you can watch animals coming to drink from a nearby water hole. It’s definitely worth the money, and the food was really good too. We only stayed one night, which wasn’t enough; I’d suggest at least a two‑night stay to fully enjoy the scenery and see all the animals by the water. The rooms are nice, comfortable, well equipped, and everything was very clean. Nothing was wrong—everything was perfect.

The place is very quiet and serene; I went with my 6‑year‑old son and he enjoyed himself, having freedom to run around since we were the only guests at the lodge. The best part is that you drive a long way inside the reserve before arriving, which feels like an adventure on its own. Lyson was the only person working there during our stay and he was very friendly. The chef from Mopane Lodge only came once to prepare our dinner, and the rest of the stay we were assisted by Lyson. I understand the facility is self‑catering, but when it comes to food, it’s always best to have a professional prepare the meal.
