The twin room offers two single beds and a carpeted floor with a wardrobe for storage. The private bathroom includes a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. A flat‑screen TV with streaming services and a tea‑and‑coffee maker provide in‑room entertainment and refreshment.
The bacon and black pudding were over‑cooked and dry, making them inedible, but everything else was very good.
“Disappointed”
The bed was a bit firm for me, yet my wife liked it. The duvet was fluffy, warm, and the bathroom looked nice; she enjoyed the shower and the room was clean. However, the experience was disappointing. We stayed in “Birch,” a “Deluxe King Room.” As soon as we inserted the key, the lock moved and didn’t secure the door; anyone with the key could enter. The keys were left at the front door, which is worrisome. I found a door stopper on the floor and used it under the door. There were no curtains, only a blind that was fully lowered; the window faced the street, and I could see a neighbour on the pavement while getting dressed—little privacy. The room had only one chair without a table, which didn’t match the décor and felt like a makeshift addition. The TV was small and hard to read subtitles from bed. A drawer unit and an alcove with four hooks (I think) and two coat hangers made up the wardrobe. The bedside lamps had very dim bulbs; my wife tried reading by the window, but the light faded, so we switched on the ceiling light, which was also weak and had no brightness control. The toilet was too close to the sink, so I bumped my knees. I had 5 to 10 minutes of hot water in the morning, then it went cold; waiting didn’t restore heat. There were no chocolate chip cookies on the tea tray, only a note praising them. It was not a Deluxe room for £167 (the price listed on the hotel website); I expected more for that money. Nearly £200 for this room, including breakfast for two, is simply not value for money. The hotel later reached out, which was good customer service.
“Definitely worth a stay”
The décor, comfy bed, and cleanliness gave a warm vibe, and the cookies were a nice touch—especially the whisky soap and local magazine. The bedside lights were too dim to read a book, which was disappointing. I’d prefer fewer furnishings and more space for bags, or at least more hooks for clothes; the room felt small.
“Lovely stay”
The bedroom was cozy and the bathroom modern; breakfast was tasty. The room felt a bit chilly and the hotel seemed somewhat empty because staff were only around during breakfast. That didn’t bother me, and checking in was hassle‑free.
“Nice place, comfortable and clean”
The room was comfortable, clean, and well decorated. The internet failed, so the TV was unusable.
