I travel to meet people, and the woman who runs the hotel speaks perfect English, so I had a wonderful experience learning about life in Kyrgyzstan. I arrived around 1:00 pm, and she prepared lunch for me, even though she didn’t have to. We ate together with her daughter, and she showed me her home, the yard, the apple trees, and the chicken coop. The next morning she served breakfast with eggs from the same chickens. It was a fantastic experience. We talked about life, the past, the Soviet era, and how things differ now. I couldn’t get that perspective elsewhere in Kyrgyzstan, especially since I didn’t speak the local language but she did English. It meant a lot to me, and I hope to return with my wife to visit her again.
