The Grand Hotel is beautiful and magnificently furnished, but the staff are dreadful and utterly unprofessional. They assigned us a third‑floor room after about 20 minutes of waiting, and we were four elderly guests with a view of the parking lot, above the kitchens, requiring a steep stair ramp—despite me having told them my wife was on a wheelchair. I protested and was given a claustrophobic cell‑like room with a non‑opening window overlooking a kind of internal hall full of huge pipes, small and cramped. I returned to the reception, “strongly irritated,” saying I had booked a Superior Matrimonial, not a prison cell. The fatigue from the trip, the last day at what I thought was a grand hotel, turned into a nightmare. Finally, after asking to speak with the director, a beautiful room with a sea view on the second floor magically appeared, while my friends stayed in the first room overlooking the kitchen/garage, too tired to protest. So their rule seems to reserve the best rooms for “friends” or clients who haven’t paid yet or can choose to leave, treating those who can only protest—who booked/pay months in advance—adequately. I’ve never encountered such a situation, and after working abroad and traveling across Europe, I can say at 73 this was the worst travel experience of my life! I hope this review helps you improve. The location is excellent, close to restaurants and bars. The decor is warm, appealing, and modern, and the staff are friendly and ultra professional. No negatives to report.

The location and staff were good, but the restaurant service was terrible and understaffed. I stayed in a single room in the old section, and the mold smell was strong.
