Dasa Vayu Retreat and Cottage

The setting is nice, the bungalows are spread out in a large park, the interior of the accommodation is pleasant and the bed is comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and ate on site, and the meal was good. However, the maintenance feels lacking; for example, the bathroom walls have significant cracks and the sink tap is held in place with a wooden shim. The dining area is very rustic and doesn’t look clean. There are three dogs on the property. They’re friendly but a bit intrusive; they spent the night on the bungalow terrace and in the morning we saw two of them on the terrace chairs. The first part of the night was very noisy because of the dogs, and when other nearby dogs barked, the three responded. The second part of the night was calmer. The owners can’t control the surrounding dogs, but they might consider picking up their own at night. For breakfast we were supposed to have fruit, but there was none left. There were no tablecloths, and when we requested them, we were given a roll of toilet paper instead. It feels like there’s no on‑site manager. Breakfast was included in our reservation. At first, when I tried to pay for our dinner, the staff wanted to bill us for breakfast. Even after insisting, they kept insisting on adding breakfast. It took a call to their manager before I was finally charged only for dinner.

The place is beautiful, surrounded by greenery. The bamboo cottage is cute, though it lets in insects through the gaps; we didn’t mind because the bed had a mosquito net and was comfortable, and at night we only heard crickets. We loved sitting by the fire in the evening, petting the cat. There’s a nice mountain‑view pool, but we didn’t use it. The area is amazing! You have to pay a fee to enter the rice fields to reach the hotel, but you can wander those fields as often as you like while staying here. I would have liked to stay a few more days. The staff were a bit cold, but we didn’t have many chances to interact with them. Because it’s quite isolated, you feel both the cold and the noises. We prepared ourselves and slept very well.

The calm, the view, and the food were great. It’s a bit far from the city center.

The setting is superb, plunging you into a jungle in the middle of nowhere. The place is comfortable, we ate well, and it feels more family‑friendly than typical hotels. For disconnection, it’s hard to find a better spot. I ordered a Balinese massage and a purification on site, which was super enjoyable. We’re not used to the humidity, so drying our stuff was a bit tough. The earplugs are useful for the dogs that can be heard in some areas of the property.

Peaceful, green surroundings, and a good breakfast. The mosquito net above the bed is old and not practical.
