I had the impression of a hotel, but it felt like a very luxurious ryokan with a lot of personality. The shuttle bus and staff were cheerful and friendly. However, there were many guests, so I couldn’t relax at breakfast as I’d liked.

The female staff was very helpful! I arrived around 22:00 and was let into the onsen before the room, and they gave me a bag—thoughtful care. The shuttle bus is small, and I wish the shuttle times ran a bit later. The slope made carrying the luggage difficult.

The bathtub was spacious and refreshing; lying in the open-air bath felt so good that I almost fell asleep. The staff were friendly and kind. I stayed right before Obon on a weekend, so it felt pricey. I used the large bath in the evening and again early morning, but there was no gender separation and it was the same bath. My husband had told me the cave bath was great and I was looking forward to it… maybe a different one if we stayed longer?
