Located in Paje, 24.2 miles from Zanzibar city, Hakuna Majiwe Beach Lodge boasts a 6 km white sandy beach with close proximity to water sports centers, including kite surfing for beginners and advanced surfers. The beachfront retreat features a palm-lined pool, Swahili-Zanzibari cuisine at the restaurant and bar, and individually designed bungalows with thatched roofs, wooden floors, and ornamental vidaka plasterwork.

We had a very nice, level room with its own terrace. The room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and everything was very clean. The reception and restaurant areas were particularly quiet. The pool was large, and we had it all to ourselves. The beach is a stone’s throw away, and it takes about 20 minutes to reach Paje directly from the beach. The place is quiet and friendly.

The location is okay – on Paja beach – and the service was good; the team did everything they could to help with any issue. The rooms were very basic but okay, with AirCon, a small coffee stand, and a safe. The beach is very beautiful. However, the location is a bit far from Paja center where all the restaurants are. The rooms are very basic, not big, and far from the main building. During the day at low tide, you can’t go into the water. The AirCon didn’t work well at all – it didn’t cool the room. Breakfast was very poor, and the dinner restaurant wasn’t good either.

The location is good, the staff are kind and knowledgeable, but the bed was narrow and creaky.
