They offered free laundry and a free ride to the station at the end of my stay. However, there were no vegetarian options even though the website clearly says the family‑friendly restaurant serves traditional Japanese and American breakfasts, including vegetarian, and dinner offers a variety of cuisines with vegetarian choices. When I pointed out the mistake, the owner was condescending and nothing changed after a month. He did refund me 10k yen, but he wouldn’t let me stay in the hall after checkout without prior notice.

Aki is a wonderful host, and Kanekaku is a great place to stay—simple, clean, and homey. The shuttle bus stop to Hakuba Goryu is right outside the building, and Aki even offers a free shuttle to Happo and Iwatake. The bathroom is shared but well‑equipped with plenty of amenities.
