“Very comfortable and good value. Just what we needed for a one night stay when doing a lot of travelling.”

The interior is really lovely, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was lovely and delivered outside our door when we asked for it. Getting in was a challenge; this place isn’t a hotel or guest house and the door is just a big wooden one on a residential street. I only got the lock‑code message the morning we were due to arrive, which I missed, but someone else checking in at the same time helped me. There’s plenty of parking, but finding a spot when you arrive isn’t easy.

“A comfortable quiet place to stay in Bethune for a few nights.”

Situated in one of the oldest buildings in Bethune, the room was refurbished to a high standard and stayed very quiet. It was spotless with a very comfortable bed, a large bathroom with a good shower, and extra facilities for an additional fee. Breakfast arrived promptly outside the door at the time we booked it for. Public car parking is about 50 m away, free from 6 pm until 9 am. Access to the building is via two keys in lock boxes, and the owner emailed the codes on the day of arrival. It’s about a 5‑7 minute walk to the main square, which has many restaurants and bars. The building’s age means the accommodation is on two levels with a short flight of stairs up to a sitting area and the bathroom, so it may not suit those a little unsteady on their feet. If you like milk in your tea or coffee you might want to bring some. In our case we couldn’t access our emails while travelling, so we didn’t receive the lock‑box codes before we arrived, but the owner communicated with us by phone.

“Super si vous ne voulez absolument voir personne. Même pas les gérants.”

The room was fabulous with excellent bedding. There was no human contact—just email, a code, a key box, breakfast dropped in front of the door, and the keys were left on a table when we departed.

Breakfast was very good and spacious. A clearer plan would help find the location; the street is hard to locate on GPS.
