Located in an 18th-century building in Varberg, Hotell Gästis is 400 metres from the Central Station. The hotel features rooms with private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and free wired internet access. Each room has a work desk and wooden floors. The hotel serves daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner in its dining room overlooking the park, and offers a bar with a selection of drinks.

The hotel feels like a museum and poster gallery in one, with tastefully decorated rooms. The breakfast buffet was truly good, offering plenty of fresh bread and ingredients. We chose not to use the Lenin bath because we were told a wrong and too high price, and some packages don’t include bathing options, which isn’t clear.

The bath was okay. There were many stairs to the room and you couldn’t park the car outside while carrying the stairs. It was dark and smelled a bit bad, probably because of rugs in the main building.

It was incredibly cozy and genuine. The Lenin bath is unbeatable. The whole hotel is well thought out, and there aren’t many places like this in Sweden. The Villa Gästis annex was maybe a bit dull.

The location is fantastic and the breakfast is super good. The staff are very friendly, but the bathroom was cleaned just so-so.
