Being close to the World Heritage site of Iwami Ginzan was fantastic, and after a day of touring the hot springs helped ease our tired bodies. Mr Nakai, who knows the silver mine well, explained the certification process and made the visit enjoyable. The facilities are old, and the entrance houses two cat nests, which could be problematic for people with allergies.

The hot spring was great, but there was nothing around.

I liked that the onsen includes a sauna, that there are rooms allowing dogs, and that a private bath is available; the room was quiet and felt clean on weekdays. However, depending on the room you get, the toilet isn’t in‑room but shared between men and women, which can be tough for female guests.
