“Small, modern hotel with excellent facilities - ideal if you don’t like busy, noisy city centres.”
We were very happy with the location – a short ride into the city, plenty of reasonably priced parking near the walls, or a taxi/bus works too. The hotel itself offers plenty of free parking, no trouble finding a space. With only 15 rooms, the small size suited us perfectly as elderly guests wanting a quieter place. We ate in the cafeteria and restaurant throughout our stay; the cafeteria offered lighter meals, the restaurant à la carte full meals. Drinks and food could also be enjoyed outside – at the front of the cafeteria or in the rear gardens. The rooms are spacious, very clean, with large comfy beds and well-equipped; we especially liked the mini‑fridge and coffee machine. My dog was very happy – a good walk is about 250 yards away, easy to pop out for toilet breaks on grassy verges along both sides of the road. She was allowed in some public areas on a lead, e.g. when we had coffee. It was possible to leave her in the room or car while we ate in the restaurant – although I saw other guests take their pets inside. Dogs were expected on leads as guests moved around the hotel – many were business travellers who probably wouldn’t appreciate dogs off the lead while relaxing after work. The hotel is certainly good for dog owners and worth the extra per night I paid to have her with me. The staff were very friendly and courteous, understanding our limited Spanish. The receptionist spoke some English and one waiter spoke good English, so we didn’t struggle with language as much as feared. We would definitely stay again and have already recommended the hotel to friends and relatives planning to visit Lugo. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and felt the hotel was a very comfortable base to explore Lugo. We had no complaints but wondered if a full‑length mirror could be fitted somewhere in the room – there is a large mirror in the bathroom over the basin, so only the upper half is visible. One of our rooms was short on coat hangers – only two provided. Perhaps room service could check this before guests arrive? These were only very small points and didn’t detract from our experience at La Finca in any way.
