“I love staying at this hotel and I love the proximity to UC MERCED. Staff is always kind.”
We’ve stayed here multiple times while taking our sons to UC MERCED, and the staff is consistently friendly; the beds are supremely comfy and everything is straightforward and simple. However, the pull‑out couch cushions are torn and frayed, and the decorative pillow on the bed looks dingy and old. There was no body wash in the shower. We occupied room 218, but the elevator’s constant dinging was hard to ignore. The ATM was broken, making it difficult to tip housekeeping; has anyone tried a QR code for tipping? The lobby water dispenser used to be cool, but this new one is warm and its spout is confusing, leaving a dripping mess. The TV display had a white box in the corner with information I couldn’t remove, which was very distracting while watching. Lobby staff told us we had a nice room because we have a balcony, yet the balcony door seemed locked and couldn’t be opened.
“I just won’t be staying there anymore”
My kids enjoyed the indoor swimming pool, but I was upset that when I booked the room with breakfast included, I was told at the front desk in the morning that we had to buy breakfast at the bistro, which felt misleading since I had planned to eat there with my little ones. Also, they advertised Starbucks coffee, but when I went there, they weren’t serving it at that time.
The bar and lounge are good for studying, and the staff are compassionate.
