The location was good and there was plenty of parking. The kitchen had everything needed. However, it wasn’t clean—dust was everywhere, a saucepan lid had dried vegetable bits, and the worktop had residue. The small sofa had large pieces of rubbish when you unfolded it. The loft sleeping area was extremely uncomfortable; we’re not very tall—my husband is 5 ft 11 in and I’m 5 ft 5 in—so we couldn’t stand up fully without bumping our heads on the loft beams. The bed was only 3/4 size, so we felt cramped. Pillows were hard and lumpy, and the quilt over the bedding smelled awful, so we threw it in a corner. The shower didn’t provide consistent hot water. When I rang up to complain, I was told someone would come the next morning, but that never happened. The wall between our unit and the other rental was thin, and we were disturbed by noise from the group next door until late at night. The festival we were attending got cancelled due to a tragic accident. If the accommodation had been better, we would have stayed the full three nights and explored the area, but after such a dreadful night we decided to head home.

The location was perfect for visiting the Knepp estate and watching storks. The rooms were nice, dinner was good, and the village setting was tranquil.

It was hard to eat breakfast in the fairly small room. The location was not ideal.
