The Wood Palace is situated beautifully and completely quietly in the middle of nature. The surroundings are very idyllic and perfect for relaxing. The hosts are extremely friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome immediately. The breakfast was also very tasty. Absolutely recommended – we felt great and would gladly return!

The view from the mountain overlooking the valley and the jungle below your balcony was stunning. We were assigned the wooden room in the valley, but because we had a sick child and no air‑conditioning, we requested a different room. While searching for an alternative, we discovered another larger room with air‑conditioning and a plunge bath on the balcony, available for an extra fee. That room was clean, cool, and the view was amazing. The family was ready to help; breakfast or a quick trip to the city could be arranged with their own tuk‑tuk. I don’t expect a typical hotel experience, but the environment is incredibly beautiful.

The view, the pool, the bedding, and the fully stocked fridge were all great, and breakfast was served by a local resident. There were recurring hot‑water problems and the pool wasn’t heated, plus the place is far from Ella’s center.

The experience itself is absolutely amazing. If you love nature, breathtaking views, peace and quiet, and monkeys visiting your balcony, this place is very special. It feels remote, authentic and far away from the crowds. I would give the experience 10/10. If you are looking for luxury brands, polished 5-star service and being pampered, this is probably not the place for you — but if you value nature and atmosphere, you will love it. The hotel advertises itself as 5-star, which in my opinion is very misleading. In terms of facilities and hotel standards, it is nowhere near a traditional 5-star property. That said, the star rating almost doesn’t matter here because the experience is what makes the place special. Also, the location is quite isolated, so you will normally need a tuk-tuk to get to Ella
