“Sehr schöner ruhiger Ausgangspunkt für diverse Unternehmungen”
The landlord Waldemar is very friendly, though he only speaks Polish; we used Google Translate/WhatsApp, and he also understood Russian because Polish and Russian are close. The apartment is huge – we were three kids, each with their own room, and two of the three bedrooms had a TV with German satellite channels. The amenities were good; we didn’t miss anything: toaster, microwave, dishwasher, waffle iron, plenty of dishes and pots, etc. In the town there’s a small shop for everyday items. The location is strategic for day trips. The apartment is on Karsibor Island, and you can drive to Swinemünde or Misdroy in 20–30 minutes. Both are popular beach towns with lots of tourist stuff and beaches, but you’ll spend a lot of money there. A small secret tip: the underground city on Wolin Island (Batterie Vineta) – a bunker complex where you learn about WWII history and later Polish army use. It’s worth taking the German tour; the guide is funny and a bit mischievous. A bonus is the nearby beach; you walk about 1 km from the bunker to a nearly empty shore. The only downside: mosquitoes in the forest on the way to the beach! Use mosquito spray unless you want to look like a lingonberry cake… That also applies to the bunker area. We had a dog with us; the house is dog‑friendly and fully fenced, so we could let our four‑legged friend roam freely. He could also go into the bunker and onto the beaches. We never had trouble getting anywhere in. Only some museums or the national park don’t allow dogs. We found everything great… there was nothing to complain about. Value for money is superb!
