“Expensive experience”
In the middle of a tea plantation, as promised – very clean, nice staff, a beautiful swimming pool, cool nights (no need for air conditioning), food was good (high price point for Sri Lanka but still affordable). Tea at arrival and in the afternoon is a nice moment. It felt more like a glamping experience than a traditional hotel stay; the bedrooms are actually tents, which we didn’t know about when booking. There is very little natural light inside the rooms. When the weather is nice, that’s not a problem because you can spend most of your time on the terrace or by the pool. When it rains, the rooms can feel quite small and dark. The hotel is also rather isolated and not easy to reach, so you’re more or less dependent on having lunch and dinner there. Although the food is good, after a while it started to feel a little restrictive. Overall, we enjoyed some aspects of the stay, but considering that the experience is essentially glamping, we found it quite expensive for what it offers.
