I arrived early and was able to check in an hour early after having a coffee in the common area; the food and drinks at The Goan Corner, which doubles as a restaurant, were all tasty; I stayed in a double room with a private bathroom, a hammock, and a view of a beautiful rocky mountain backdrop that made me feel like I was at a resort; the reception staff were friendly and helpful with activity information, and sunset hiking was enjoyable; a legal scooter rental is available right in front of the accommodation; however, public transport is not available, so you must travel by Rickshaw, taxi, or bike, and there are unpaved road sections.

I booked and paid in full for two nights at Zostel Hampi with my 67‑year‑old mother, hoping for a quiet holiday after a 471 km / 7‑hour drive; instead, the reception was confusing, a staff member raised his voice and called me “a liar” when I asked for clarification, and the staff were immature and unprofessional; several staff told us we could not stay and asked us to leave without a refund, while my mother was spoken to disrespectfully; after heated arguments I raised my voice, and they realized we had booked and arranged a refund before leaving the dirty property; my mother was deeply humiliated and the trip was ruined; I urge Zostel to review how staff handle guest concerns, especially for elderly guests.

The stay was super comfy and fun; I loved the friendly staff, the clean and well-kept property, and the overall vibe of Zostel Gangavathi. The spot is also handy for exploring Hampi, making it a solid choice if you’re traveling with friends! 🤩 The only downside was the location and the poor lighting on the approach road—since Zostel sits in a more isolated, jungle-like area outside the city, the road gets dark in the evening, which can feel unsafe, especially for women or small groups. Adding better street lighting or lamps along the road would make the stay safer and more comfortable.
