The common terrace was nice and spacious, with plenty of room to hang wet towels, but the location right next to one of the bars in Unawatuna made it very loud most nights, making sleep almost impossible.

The gentleman manager was very, very nice! We had two rooms, one for us and one for our teenage girls. The air conditioning didn’t work in our room, so after waiting several hours to have it fixed they moved us to a place a couple blocks away at Shanaka Guest House. The lady there was very nice. I didn’t like staying away from my girls but it was unavoidable. I did sleep in because I stayed with them later than usual. I missed my dive appointment at 8:30 but could get one for 9:30, which would mean back at the hotel at 11:00, which was at check‑out time. As they didn’t need to change sheets for the room we didn’t stay in, they requested an hour later check‑out. They would not accommodate the 1‑hour, only ½ hour, which meant I couldn’t do my dive. I thought this was unreasonable given I felt we were very accommodating when the room we paid for wasn’t ready for 5 hours after we checked in nor close to our children.

The place was fine, but the location was really noisy, with bars playing terrible music late and a street full of tuk‑tuks. I didn’t like Unawatuna; it’s been spoiled by over‑development. AVOID.

We stayed nine days at this hotel; it has a very good location, with beach, cafés, bars nearby. The room had a large bed with a canopy, but there were many mosquitoes. The windows faced the central street, so the noise was very strong, though not every night. Everything would have been fine except the shower, which only had cold water with a very weak flow, making it almost impossible to wash; the room also lacked a wardrobe or chest of drawers for clothes. The hotel terrace connects to the restaurant.
