The pub and food, along with breakfasts and dinners, were great, though the place was noisy and crowded. I had hoped for a more relaxed vibe and for the bar to connect us with locals who could advise us on nearby sights. The room was tiny and the wardrobe was falling apart, yet it was adequate and we stayed comfortable. All in all, it was fine.

The location was great and the breakfast fantastic. The bed was a little small and the room felt very dark.

The staff were pleasant and the meals were great. The location was convenient for buses into York and there was plenty of car parking. The only issue was the noise: the main road runs right by the rooms, so traffic is loud into the early hours and starts again very early; I’ll take early plugs next time. Otherwise everything was great.
