There’s nothing positive to say – this “guesthouse” isn’t a hotel at all, isn’t part of any chain, and certainly isn’t a “clévacances” property that only rents private homes in mainland France (so not Polynesia). No housekeeping was provided during the three‑night stay, and we were told not to wear shoes inside the room. The so‑called double‑room was far smaller than advertised, leaving no space for luggage, and even a pricey rental would have offered more room. The place is isolated without a car (9 km from the beach), taxis are absurdly expensive, and there’s no beach despite the listing. Breakfast cost an outrageous 5000 XPF (≈45 €) and consisted of tiny, thawed pastries that were inedible. In short, avoid this; there are far nicer beachfront spots in Matira at a fraction of the cost with proper hotel service. Everything about the stay was terrible. Being on an island, you’re expected to smile even if you’re unhappy, but they’ll make your visit miserable if you don’t. Staff speak Polynesian in front of other guests so you can’t understand, the taxi driver only takes cash (no Revolut), and the family running the lodge is unhelpful. The recommended taxi is actually the one suggested by the guesthouse.

The owner’s daughter had a commercial smile. The exchange in Tahitian at the taxi that drops you off (Thierry) was pleasant. The place is a “guesthouse” (classified as a youth hostel by authorities) but listed under “Hotel” on Booking. It’s a hostel service with no cleaning, so hygiene is an issue for a three‑day stay. There’s no service at all, and breakfast costs an exorbitant price for very poor quality. It’s far from everything, so budget for taxis with fixed rates—avoid Thierry, the driver the guesthouse recommends. No help to make your island stay pleasant (as good guesthouses do). The room looks more like a cellar, no bathroom window; the only view is a parking lot with cars instead of greenery, and you have to close the window to avoid being seen naked. Female staff from the room above start cleaning very early (5 or 6 am) and make noise, waking you. There’s no common area like in a hotel. The reception is closed even at reasonable hours, so you have to go to the owners (embarrassing). The value for money is very poor. There’s only one nearby restaurant, and you need a car if it’s open. I strongly recommend against staying at this dirty youth hostel.

The location, staff, and cleanliness were perfect. The breakfast was very good and very enjoyable by the pool.
