Only the location was good; it was dirty, the owner was never seen, and there was no elevator.

The place looked good at first glance, but the bathroom photo was misleading, the foyer was dirty, and we were told we couldn't use the lift. The bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen bins hadn't been emptied from previous guests, and the bed was only made for a single person. We found sheets in the kitchen and had to set up a second bed ourselves. There was no coffee machine in the room, just a kettle. An alarm clock and a drying rack, as advertised, were missing, and there was no front desk. The sheets had marks, and there was no balcony or terrace as promised. The bathroom was shared among the three available rooms, even though the listing said it was private. The other two rooms were empty, yet the description didn't mention sharing. Getting to the property involved two hours of messaging and calling the owner directly, with five neighbors and nearby café workers trying to help. Instructions were unclear and needed translation. Keys were kept inside the property, and the owners preferred to unlock it via text messages in Italian instead of being present, which was problematic. In short, this could be a great option in La Spazia if you have a reliable housekeeper and better entry system. We were asked to leave early and lost our payment without explanation. The owner has 12 other rentals, and last year's reviews show a decline in quality. This wasn't the welcome we found elsewhere in Italy, and we’ve never been asked to leave a property before. We’re in our late 60s with health issues and just wanted a clean, quiet place as advertised.

There was no toilet paper, a chewy candy stuck to the floor, a Pringles pack in the wardrobe, no soap, and the staff were rude.

I was disappointed by the lack of a hostess to explain the process; it feels more like a modern era where you receive a password for the main gate, another for the apartment door, and yet another for a secret box to get the keys to my room, which was the most traumatic and least intuitive. The printed instructions were fine but not user‑friendly for key retrieval. The bathroom looked nice but had a few hairs on the floor, a lot of limescale on the shower head, low water pressure, and a dirty area where the water enters. The kettle was there but not working—what’s the point? Overall, I’d rate it as adequate.
