The bugs in the bathroom and in the rooms. The western breakfast was terrible, in terms of variety. The hotel is so far away from everything. The laundry service is not worth it. The only way to get upstairs was a creaky staircase, not ideal when you have 4 20kg suitcases and the noise from other guests was very annoying

I think the hotel reflects the culture well and the staff were courteous, but the center is far away, the beds itch, and although the dinner offered a cultural experience it didn’t match our style.

It’s good value for those wanting a ryokan experience; dinner and breakfast were hearty and delicious, the staff were very attentive, a bit far from the center but close to Arashiyama by taxi so we could combine the stay with that trip, and I recommend it. Walking between the rooms and the restaurant is a drawback, and you can’t have meals in the room.

The facility is well maintained and the staff are truly attentive and caring; for meals we chose traditional breakfast and dinner which were plentiful, varied, and carefully prepared. The location isn’t the closest to the city, but that’s what makes it nice—disconnecting from the city and approaching nature and the smaller Japanese countryside. Relaxing and authentic. The location isn’t the most central and may be inconvenient for some, but it’s nothing unmanageable.

The place is quiet and calm, a little far from the city but a nice spot to unwind during a long, busy trip. The suite was large, tidy, and clean, and the garden‑view suite was a great pick. The staff are lovely and make you feel welcome, doing their best to communicate even if you don’t speak Japanese. The Japanese‑style food was delicious, with both dinner and breakfast being exquisite.
