The host was incredibly friendly and always ready to help, even preparing a free breakfast for us at 06:15. We also had the convenience of storing our luggage outside of check‑in and check‑out times.

The hospitality and the tasty breakfast from Mariko were great. The place is within walking distance of JR and Nikko stations, close to the city center and the bus stop, and the location is excellent. However, the tatami beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and they weren't very clean.

Mariko San nous a reçu avec le plus grand soin et pleins de petites attentions. Trop gentille. L’emplacement est top, à 3 minutes à pied de la gare. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et très bon. Tout est parfait. Rien

If you’re after a luxury stay, this isn’t it. But if you want a basic, super clean room with the loveliest host for great value, this is it. The host greeted us and explained the bus routes. It wasn’t part of what we paid for, but she offered to make breakfast whenever we wanted. I’ve tried many hotel breakfasts and this one ranked near the top: omelette, skewer meat, bread, about a dozen assorted fruits and vegetables, and coffee. She made sure we took her umbrellas when we went out for the day and even gave us handmade origami cranes for good health and fortune. The only downside was that because of the schedule we could only stay one night.
